What better way to spend a wet October morning, Pad Thai and chocolate brownies

Today,  we visited the professional kitchen at L’atelier des Chefs, Oxford Circus, and cooked up a feast of Chicken Pad Thai.

Under the instruction of the Head Chef, Alexander, a group of young people supported by Teens Unite, learned the art of Thai cusine, combining the perfect mix of ingredients to create a culinary masterpiece.

Together, the young people chopped all the ingredients, cooked the elements, and presented a meal  to enjoy with their family member or friend who came along with them.

In preparing the meal, they worked together as a team, and over lunch were able to enjoy each other's company and many different conversations.

The Pad Thai was followed by a delicious chocolate brownie, one made early by the professional Chefs – always a crowd pleaser, and even better when you haven't had to make it yourself!

A very big thank you to L’atelier des Chefs for hosting the cookery session, the staff were very attentive and extremely welcoming. An equally big thank you to the lovely Anita Goraya for volunteering her time and joining in with the masterclass, you know you are in good hands with Anita, a great helping hand who always puts the young people at ease.

Here are a few quotes from both the teens and their parents

‘It was lovely to meet people and it was nice to cook together’

‘I enjoyed working together as a team’

‘I enjoyed chatting to others about their experiences, whilst learning something new’

‘It was really nice to meet up with other parents in a relaxed environment.’
