Thank you Class 9c

Thank you Class 9c

Class 9C at the Robert Barclay Academy presented a class assembly on the theme of making small changes to lead to a healthier lifestyle.  The students looked at sleep, drinking more water, and diet changes. They decided to show that snacks could be healthy organising a cake sale with healthy bakes.  There was a competition to guess the mystery vegetables in the cake - a sweet potato cake and a beetroot brownie, both sound delicious!

The class gave up their break time and their lunchtime over two days to sell the cakes and they raised a whopping £146.87.  The students of 9C chose a local charity to donate the money to - and we are very fortunate that these amazing young people chose us. The reason they chose Teens Unite is because they wanted to show that teenagers could help other teenagers, and they certainly have with this incredible fundraising activity.

We are absolutely thrilled that these young people thought about others and the money they raised will certainly help us going forward.  We would very much like to develop further links with Robert Barclay Academy and indeed any other school that would like to work with us to help more of the seven young people aged 13-24 in the UK, who every day, hear the words "you have cancer".

Congratulations 9C - we are all very proud of you!
