Our growing volunteer community

Our growing volunteer community

During January, we have welcomed a number of new volunteers and received a fantastic amount of interest from people wanting to become involved and support Teens Unite.  This is all really exciting as the time you can give, helps to ensure that we can reach out to more young people in need of our support.

In the office, we have received help from David and Marion who have supported the promotion of our annual Its A Knockout competition, helped to generate funds through eBay and undertaken a refresh of our collecting pots.  These are all essential jobs that are a huge help to our productivity and we are always so happy and grateful to welcome new volunteers in to the Teens Unite Family.

As Teens Unite spreads it wings further across Herts and into Essex with our events and fundraising, we are also looking to expand our community of volunteers.  To help with this we are engaging with #TeamHerts Volunteering and the Volunteer Essex volunteer centres, so you may see our volunteering opportunities popping up elsewhere.  Please however be assured that these are the same opportunities that we provide on our own website and are open to everyone, we just say the more the merrier!

As we talk about growing our volunteering family and widening our local reach, we are really excited to launch our new Community Volunteer role.  This is a flexible but regular volunteering opportunity that will be key to raising awareness of Teens Unite and vital funds to support the charity’s activities.  Whilst we call this a regular opportunity, we do not ask for a specific time commitment, or a schedule of hours, we can be flexible and ask the same of you.

We are keen to create a team of Community Volunteers, each covering a local area and undertake activities including:

  • managing the distribution, review and replacement of donation pots
  • managing the distribution of leaflets and posters relating to the charity’s activities
  • maintaining appropriate and accurate record keeping of activities
  • being a key contact within a specific community area
  • maintaining and developing positive relationships with supporters, local businesses and residents in your specific community area

We are initially seeking Community Volunteers in each of the following areas:

  • Hoddesdon
  • Broxbourne
  • Wormley
  • Cheshunt
  • Waltham Cross
  • Hertford
  • Ware
  • Stanstead Abbotts
  • Loughton
  • Chingford
  • Buckhurst Hill
  • Epping
  • Waltham Abbey

To find out more about this opportunity you can read about it on our website.  Alternatively, please get in touch so that we can have a chat.

With this time of year quiet on the events front, we want to make the most of the fundraising opportunities provided through bucket collecting.  Did you know that the average value of a volunteering hour to Teens Unite, when bucket collecting, is an amazing £30?!

Details of the bucket collecting and all of our future volunteering opportunities are available on the Teens Unite website, so please keep an eye on this page.

If you feel you can help to support any of the upcoming events, We’d love to hear from you either through the website, by email at volunteers@teensunite.org, or give Nicky a call on 01992 440091.
